So Much To Do, So Little Time

You will all have noticed a distinct lack of blog posts in the last few weeks.  Unfortunately for the blog my time has become sparse due to the amount of workload I currently have.  Fear not though, I will hopefully be back soon with more exciting updates but for now more important things need my attention as the business starts to take off (eek- exciting times!).

Bon Voyage x

Michael and Laura's Ambient Affair

I recently received back photos of one of my very first weddings from last Summer. Laura was one of my first brides and wanted something a bit different for her wedding at Rowton Castle in Shropshire.  Her bridesmaids were to wear aubergine but she was also keen on the flock chair veils she had seen on our website.

So here is what we came up with.

For the civil ceremony we used black and champagne organza flock chair veils on alternate butter and black chair covers.  We then used a black flock table runner to cover the taffeta aubergine table cloth that had been put on the registrars table.

For the reception, Laura had 8 round tables.  The centre four were dressed with black chair covers and champagne chair veils whilst the outer four were dressed with butter chair covers and black chair veils.  All were dressed with aubergine tablecloths and the flock runners to give it a more striking effect.  The amazing candelabras were actually made by Laura's uncle who makes iron gates!  He carved Laura's and Michael's initials into them to make them extra special.

Laura was very keen that the reception room had a certain ambiance to it.  She wanted it just to be lit by candles and uplighters (that the grooms party worked very hard on to achieve) to create the look she desired.  As as you can see, the overall look is exactly what Laura set out for.

Chris & Louise's RAF Wedding

Welcome to the wonderful wedding of Chris and Louise.  Chris and Louise got married in October of last year at Euxton Parish Church (just down the road from me!) and then went onto their reception and the wonderful Farington Lodge.  Their photographer Adam Riley is here to tell us more about their big day.

"I spent the morning with Louise and her bridesmaids (which included the grooms twin sister that had flown in from Australia!) - at Louise's parents house. Her mum had put on a fabulous morning buffet too."

"Although a little windy, we found some time to take some more formal photographs outside before heading indoors to the party."

"Chris is a pilot in the RAF, and many of his pals from the forces were in attendance - and having a good laugh as usual!"

"The speeches were some of the best I've seen, introduced by Chris presenting his new wife with a new piece of artwork for their wall..."

It's The Little Things That Count... Napkins

As the title suggests, I am about to discuss napkins in this post.  Before you shut your laptop, hang on a minute! I promise to provide you with lots of inspiring photos to help you along the way.

Believe it or not, there are many different ways to 'do' your napkins.  They are often something that is overlooked but do them right and they can bring your whole table together and even be used to harness place names and favours.

THE ROLL

Simple yet elegant.  Tie the roll with ribbon that matches your colour scheme and slip in your place name or an accessories if you wish to.

THE FOLD
Perhaps the most glamourous of all, depending on what you do with them.  Keep it chic with satin napkins.

Moodboard: Hot Pink

Hopefully this set of my latest inspiration boards will leave you feeling happy in what seems to be a never ending winter.  I recently asked a few wedding suppliers what the 'in' colours for weddings are at the moment.  The resounding answer was cadburys purple (which I cannot seem to escape from!) and splashes of hot pink.  Are you having a hot pink wedding?  If I can help in anyway, with something that has inspired you on today's post then please just give me a shout.

The Week In Words

Since the New Year I have made a conscious effort to set more time aside for blogging and have being running on a post a day.  This is no mean feat when you have a full time job AND running a successful business but hey, i love it!  So I have decided to do an end of the week post to highlight what happened on Lancashire Bride during the week.  So here we go...
~ I started the week on a high by featuring the fabulous Ice Maiden photoshoot from Perfect Choice Planning and many other local suppliers and it went down a storm.  Here is one of my favourite pictures.

~ Tuesday brought inspiration boards for the Modern Bride following on from our announcement that we would be exhibiting at The Wedding Carnival on March 24th.

~ The line up for Slaidburn Wedding Fayre was announced.  This wedding fayre is one I have planned myself on behalf of Slaidburn Village Hall so fingers crossed (eek!) we see a good turn out.  (Remember Brides, it is free parking, free entry, complimentary canapes and bubbly AND the chance to win a Mini AND your wedding chair covers!).

~ By popular demand Blush Rose were also back on the blog, this time with a guide to spring wedding flowers.  If you have a wedding flower question or dilemma, please leave your question as a comment on this post and Blush Rose will back soon with a Q&A session.

~ This week Simply Bows and Chair Covers, also found out that they had been nominated for a The Bridal Magazine Supplier Awards.  To vote for us please click HERE!

Whats In Bloom? A Guest Blog from Blush Rose

My flower features with Blush Rose seem to be going down a storm with you guys so I am so happy to bring you another guest post from the fabulous lancashire florist.  Clare talks to us about in season spring flowers.  When planning your wedding, it's quite handy to research what flowers are in season at the time of your wedding as they will be the cheapest.

"Well Spring will be in the air before we know it.  And we can start to dust off the cobwebs of this cold wet winter and everything is starting to awaken. So here at Blush Rose we will go through what we can expect for the spring flowers to come.

New spring Brides will embrace the start of a new season and all the flower markets will be cascading with all the spring wedding flowers, as you can imagine (they are in stock as we write this blog). Here are just a few on a list of spring flowers that you will come across over the coming months
Narcissus ~ (bright yellows)
Hyacinths ~ (blue, white, pink highly scented)
Freesias ~ (yellow, white, purple pink)
Tulips ~ (all colours)
Ranunculi's ~ (all colours)
This is only to name a few.
So as spring comes to life the colours exploding I have picked two colours and flowers themes.
The first is yellow as I feel that yellow is the best colour to express spring time….."
www.bouquetbridalblogspot.com
"The next is Tulips I love working with tulips and they are so easy to work with if you decide to arrange your own flowers… Buying lots of vases or containers and fill easily with tulips. I remember a bride and groom who adored tulips and they were displayed everywhere. I have to say it looked fresh and magical.
And here is how you could use tulips to style your wedding."
